St. John's Finishes Tied for 13th at Rain Shortened SMU Stonebridge Invitational

Dallas, TX - The St. John's University men's golf team finishes in 13th place at the rain shortened SMU Stonebridge Invitational, carding a 15-over par 303. Rain throughout the day on Monday forced the cancellation of the first two rounds of play, shortening the tournament to only 18 holes.

The University of Texas-Arlington won the team championship at two-under par 286, four shot ahead of the 16- team field. Southeastern Louisiana University finished second at two-over par 290, followed by Oklahoma City University 291, Texas-San Antonio 291 and Mc Neese State University rounded at the top-five at 292.

Jeff Murray from the University of Texas-Arlington and David Callaway from Mc Neese University both fired rounds of four-under par 68 to finish tied for first place in the individual race. On the second playoff hole Murray made par to beat out Callaway to win medallist honors. Three golfers finished tied for third, shooting a three-under par 69, John Elizondo from the University of Texas San Antonio, Anders Hofvander from Southeastern Louisiana University and Steve Pena from Louisiana- Lafayette.

St. John's was led by freshman Keegan Bradley (Hopkinton, MA) who fired a one-over par 73 to finish tied for 20th. In his first round of competition this season, sophomore Joe Yastrub (Lake Grove, NY) carded a three-over par 75 to finish tied for 40th.

Senior Ian Middleton (British Columbia, Canada) shot a five-over par 77 and finished tied for 49th. Closing it out for the Red Storm was junior Brian McArdle (Huntington, NY) who carded a six-over par 78 to finish tied for 58th place.

The St. John's men's golf team returns to action on October 9-10 when they compete in the James Madison Classic at Lakeview Country Club in Harrisonburg, VA.
