The St. John's University men's golf team finished in 15th place at the Navy Invitational, held this past weekend at Navy Golf Club in Annapolis, MD. The Red Storm carded a two round score of 44 over par 612. Towson shot a 3-under par 281 in the final round of action to finish in first place with a 16-over par 584. They were tied for fifth after the first round, but blew away the field on the final day to win by eight strokes over Winthrop with 592. Rounding out the top five was West Florida with 594, Rutgers with a 597 and Saint Joseph's with a 598.
Winning the individual race was Sean Seese from Saint Joseph's who finished the tournament at even-par 142. Tim Pemberton from William & Mary, Matt Bassler from Loyola, Jason Gerken from Princeton and Luke Elfner from Winthrop all finished tied for second at one-over par 143.
Individually, St. John's was led by senior Tim McCarthy (Upper Saddle River, NJ), who finished tied for 30th at nine-over par 151. Junior Tom Travalja (Oradell, NJ) shot a 10-over par 152 to finish tied for 37th. Freshman Keegan Bradley (Hopkinton, MA) shot a team low final round four-over par 75 to finish at 11-over par 153 in 46th place.
Junior Brian McArdle (Huntington, N.Y.) carded a tournament total 14-over par 156, finishing tied for 63rd. Senior Ian Middleton (British Columbia, Canada) finished with a 25-over par 167.
The St. John's men's golf team returns to action on October 17-19 when they play in the Rutgers Invitational at Rutgers Golf Club, New Brunswick, NJ.
