Princeton, N.J. - The St. John's men's golf team finished in 13th place at the Princeton Invitational that was played at Springdale G.C. in Princeton, N.J. The Red Storm carded a final round 24-over par 308, finishing the tournament with a 45-over par 613. Hosting the tournament was Princeton University who finished in first place with a 15-over par 583. Rounding out the top five was Towson with a 587, Georgetown with a 590, Temple with a 591 and George Washington with a 594 . Winning the individual race was Billy Hurley from Navy who finished the tournament 3-under par 139, three shots ahead of the field. Gary Barton from William & Mary and Jason Gerken finished tied for second with an even par 142.
The Red Storm was led by steady play from sophomore Brian McArdle (Huntington, N.Y.) who shot two rounds of 4-over par 75 golf to finish the tournament with an eight-over par 150. Sophomore John Stoltz (Middletown, N.Y.)also finished the tournament at eight-over par 150, both Stoltz and McArdle finished the two day event tied for 23rd.
Junior Ian Middleton (British Columbia, Canada) carded a tournament total 11-over par 153, finishing tied for 40th. FreshmanJoe Yastrub (Lake Grove, N.Y.) finished with a 21-over par 163.
The Red Storm will practice the next two weeks and prepare for the BIG EAST Championship on April 24-25 at Warren Golf Club in South Bend, Ind.
