QUEENS, N.Y. - Nearly 100 Red Storm fans attended Saturday morning's men's basketball scrimmage at Taffner Field House, open to St. John's Red White members. The 2007-08 men's basketball squad finished drills and scrimmaged for 40 minutes of running time as many loyal St. John's supporters got their first glimpses of the new-look Red Storm. Unofficial scoring totals saw the big men stand out, as freshman forward Justin Burrell led all scorers with 14 points. Junior big man Tomas Jasiulionis contributed 10 points with five boards, while massive rookie center Dele Coker grabbed eight boards with four points. On the perimeter, senior point guard Eugene Lawrence and newcomer Malik Boothe battled back and forth, with Lawrence drilling a pair of 3-pointers and Boothe distributing the ball well and even going glass for a mid-range jumper. Red Storm returning leading scorer Anthony Mason Jr. missed Saturday morning's scrimmage with flu-like symptoms, while sophomore guard Larry Wright left with a slight ankle sprain, but should be able to return to practice on Sunday.
