St. John's To Host NIT Quarterfinal at Alumni Hall on March 27; Tickets for Siena/Alabama-Birmingham Game On Sale Today

Jamaica, N.Y. -- There's a buzz stirring on the Queens Campus at St. John's University as the Red Storm (18-13), buoyed by their sixth man -- the SJU student-body -- continues their magical run to the National Invitation Tournament finals.

Next on the slate is an NIT Quarterfinal matchup with either Siena or Alabama-Birmingham on Thursday, March 27 at Alumni Hall. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to Madison Square Garden next week for the NIT's Final Four Championships (Tuesday, April 1 for the semi-finals and Thursday, April 3 for the consolation and title games).

Tickets for the March 27 game go on sale today at the St. John's Ticket Office in Alumni Hall. Hours of operation for the ticket office this week will be 10-4:30 p.m. today, 10-7 p.m. on Wednesday, 10-4:30 p.m. on Thursday and again one hour prior to game time at 6:30 p.m. Orders are also being taken by phone by calling 1-888-GO-STORM.

Prices are $5 for St. John's students, faculty and employees as well as groups of 20 or more. The general public can also purchase tickets for the game at a price of $20.

"Willie Shaw has been our sixth man this season but the St. John's students have been our sixth man in the NIT, responsible for our last two wins," St. John's head coach Mike Jarvis said last night after their most recent victory over Virginia, 73-63. "It's been a great atmosphere (the new student section at Alumni Hall) to play in front of and I hope it continues into next season."
