Position:
Head Team Manager

Alma Mater:
Georgia Tech '04

The lone Southerner on a staff comprised of mainly New Yorkers, Will Lanier is in his fourth season on the St. John's basketball staff and his second as Head Team Manager. After spending two seasons as a graduate assistant with the program, Lanier was promoted to a full-time administrative role in the summer of 2006.

Lanier is responsible for a variety of administrative duties in the basketball office, taking on many responsibilities related to the program's day-to-day operations. Lanier's duties include the coordination and editing of all game film, scouting video and clip tapes. With assistant coach Chris Casey, Lanier also serves as the co-director of the Norm Roberts Summer Basketball Camp, which saw enrollment swell from nearly 300 campers in the summer of 2005 to more than 600 during the summer of 2006 to upwards of 700 campers in 2007.

Lanier, an Atlanta, Ga., native, is currently pursuing a master's degree in administration and supervision in the St. John's School of Education (2007). He is a 2004 graduate of Georgia Tech with a B.S. in business management. He also earned a minor in economics and a certificate in finance.

While at Georgia Tech, Lanier served as the head manager on head coach Paul Hewitt's staff. During his senior year in 2004, the Yellow Jackets made an improbable run to Final Four, ending their Cinderella postseason in the national title game against Connecticut. Georgia Tech posted a 28-10 record in Lanier's senior season.

During the summers, Lanier worked at Georgia Tech's youth basketball camps, coaching and performing various administrative tasks. He also served as an intern at the IMG Sports Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
