QUEENS, N.Y. - Junior pitcher Scott Barnes has been named to the NCAA Houston Regional All-Tournament Team for his performance in the Red Storm's 2-1 win over No. 19 Texas. The team was selected by votes from the media covering the regional. Barnes held the Texas offense in check through 7.2 innings to earn a no-decision. The southpaw allowed just one run, while scattering six hits. Barnes walked one and also added four strikeouts. Following a lead off single in the fifth, the lefty retired nine straight batters to preserve the 1-1 tie. This is the second straight season that Barnes has been named to a regional all-tournament team. A year ago, the lefty was named to the Myrtle Beach Regional All-Tournament Team after a similar outing against No. 13 Clemson. Against the Tigers, Barnes allowed one run on six hits in 7.2 innings to earn a no-decision. The lefty walked one and had six strikeouts. For the year, Barnes went 7-3 with a 3.69 ERA in 15 starts. The lefty had 90 strikeouts in 90.1 innings and allowed just a .216 opponent batting average. The southpaw's 90 strikeouts rank seventh all-time in a single season, while the 90.1 innings of work rank tied for seventh all-time. 2008 NCAA Houston Regional All-Tournament Team Most Outstanding Player
