SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Seton Hall scored five times in the second inning en route to a 7-1 win over St. Johns as the Pirates took two of three games from the Red Storm to close out the 2003 regular season.

The Pirates jumped out to a 5-0 lead off St. Johns senior starter Tom Klemm (Salem, N.H.). Consecutive singles from Casey Grimm, Lou Santangelo and Mike Bascom with one out loaded the bases for Santiago Chi, who hit a double down the left field line, scoring all three runners and giving Seton Hall a 3-0 lead. Josh Schuck followed with a single to center, delivering Chi home. The final run came in on Anthony Seratellis single to left-center, driving in Schuck, who had moved to second when Chi scored.

The Red Storm had runners on in the first six innings twice getting the leadoff batter on and three times with one out but could get anything past Mike Santmyer, who was aided by a pair of double plays.

St. Johns ended Santmyers shutout bid in the eighth. Senior Billy Graiser (Muttontown, N.Y.) hit a leadoff single to right, and scored when junior shortstop Mike Rozema (Fair Lawn, N.J.) doubled down the left field line.

St. Johns finishes the season with a 29-27 overall record and a 12-14 mark in the BIG EAST.
