Introduction
The Campus Recreation Department welcomes the University community to the recreational sports, fitness, and leisure experience at SJU! We hope that during your free time you will investigate and explore the various opportunities this department offers to participate in recreational activity, reduce stress, and maintain fitness.

We are located in Alumni Hall, Room B77A. Call us at (718) 990-5810 for up to date information on facility availability by selecting the appropriate line number. Our fax number is (718) 990-2063.

The programs range from the traditional competitive Intramurals to the structured Club Sport Programs. Each program has been developed and designed to meet the diverse needs of our patrons and improve quality of life on campus.

Philosophy
The Campus Recreation Department is designed for the purpose of providing the entire university community with the opportunity to participate in a variety of formal and informal sports activities. These activities encompass intramural team, individual and dual sports, as well as informal recreational sports and fitness activities.

In addition to the obvious benefit of physical fitness, it is hoped this program will offer participants the opportunity to improve current skills, learn new and lifelong leisure time skills, and further develop social and ethical qualities (cooperation, trust, regard for others, etc.).

It is felt that these objectives are consistent with the University's educational mission. A high level of skill is not a prerequisite to participate in any activity offered by this office. Therefore, all eligible students, staff, and faculty members are urged to take part in as many activities as possible.

Alumni Hall is under the supervision and control of Campus Recreation Building Supervisors, St. John's University Security Department, and other St. John's University Athletic personnel. Any person on the premises without a valid St. John's ID card will be removed from campus. This is a "Red Storm" watch area. All students, faculty, and staff are asked to assist in maintaining a safe and secure facility.

If any building user observes looting or stealing in progress, please alert the Campus Recreation Office or Security.
