QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's Director of Academic Support for Student-Athletes Eric Rienecker announced the hiring of Jennifer Lebowitz as Assistant Director in the Student Development for Athletes unit. Lebowitz will serve as the academic advisor for baseball, men's golf, and men's and women's tennis.
Lebowitz, a former Red Storm student-athlete, joins St. John's after working as the educational coordinator at a non-profit organization in Washington Heights, N.Y.
"Jenn is an excellent role model for our student-athletes," said Rienecker. "Her experience as an athlete and knowledge of St. John's University will make her a vital resource for our student-athletes and coaches."
Lebowitz was the captain of the cross country and track & field teams under long time head coach Jim Hurt. She competed on both the BIG EAST and national levels, winning two Metropolitan Championship titles in the 10,000-meter and 5,000-meter races. She also represented the Red Storm at the 2001 USA Track & Field Junior Nationals as a 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter competitor. Lebowitz was also a four-year BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
The 2004 graduate completed both her B.A. and M.A. in English from St. John's University in 2004 and 2005, respectively.
