QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's University Director of Athletics Chris Monasch announced the naming of veteran administrator Corey Aronstam as the Red Storm's Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs. In her new position, Aronstam's duties include bolstering fundraising efforts for men's and women's sports, in addition to obtaining funding for capital projects.

"Corey will be a vital part of our department's external efforts, and we are excited to have her join us at St. John's," said Monasch. "She brings a great deal of intercollegiate athletics experience to her position, and knows our market, alumni base and constituency well having worked in the New York area for the past several years."

Aronstam comes to St. John's after stops in the athletics departments of three local colleges. For the past three years she was the Associate Athletics Director for Development at Iona College, responsible for fundraising, marketing and alumni relations efforts for the Gaels' 22-sport athletics program. While at Iona, Aronstam oversaw annual giving through the Gaels' Goal Club, raised capital funding and coordinated development events such as the annual Hall of Fame golf outing.

Before arriving at Iona, Aronstam spent two years as Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing, Promotions and Development at Wagner College on Staten Island, where she managed corporate sponsorships, coordinated development events and administered the Seahawk Club, the department's fundraising arm. Prior to her time with the Seahawks, Aronstam spent a two-year stint at the College of Staten Island, serving as Assistant Athletics Director/Business Manager and Senior Woman Administrator. At CSI Aronstam supervised all business operations for the intercollegiate athletics and recreation programs.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Aronstam earned her bachelor's degree in business management from Nazareth College in 1998, and received her MBA from Wagner in 2001. Aronstam was a two-year tennis standout for Nazareth after transferring from the University of Maryland. In 1997, she was selected nationally to compete in the NCAA Division III championships and she ranks among Nazareth's all-time leaders with 85 wins in just two seasons. In 2004, Aronstam was inducted into the Nazareth College Sports Hall of Fame.

Aronstam served on the NCAA Men's Water Polo Committee. A member of both the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) and the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA), Aronstam currently resides in Westchester, N.Y., with her husband Steve and her daughter Taylor (2).
