DaSilva Memorial Field
DaSilva Memorial Field and Track Photo Gallery Originally opened as St. John's Stadium in 1978, DaSilva Memorial Field was rededicated in 1998 in memory of John DaSilva, a St. John's University hockey star who was killed tragically in an automobile accident. DaSilva Memorial Field is home to the men's lacrosse and women's track and field teams, and has a seating capacity of 2,500. The field was resurfaced in the summer of 2004 to incorporate the new FieldTurf surface. In 2007, the Red Storm Lacrosse team posted a 4-1 record in front of its home-town crowd. After the lone loss at the hands of then-No. 1 Georgetown on March 3, 2007, St. John's went 4-0 on DaSilva, including earning their first-ever ECAC win, a 6-4 victory over Rutgers University on March 31. The Red Storm broke the at-home attendance record twice, hosting over 700 fans on both occasions. In 2006, the most fans to attend a home game at DaSilva Memorial was 447. The Red Storm Track and Field team hosts numerous spring events on the DaSilva Memorial Track, such as its annual Spring Series events which include two Monday Night Meetings, and the STJ Final Exam Classic.
